SUE SAMPSON-DALENA has a passion for dance.  Since 1982, she has been the Owner/Artistic Director of The Dance Studio of Fresno. The studio has attracted thousands of dancers from throughout the State of California and especially the Central Valley.

Sue has been an Ambassador for The Dance Teacher Summit since 2010 and the KMPH Fox Local Expert Commentator for the hit series “So You Think You Can Dance”. For several years, she choreographed for professional dance teams including the San Francisco 49ers and the Sacramento Kings. She also choreographed half-time shows for the Western Athletic Conference and other professional sporting events. In 2017, Sue was honored to receive an “Award of Distinction” from Dance Teacher Magazine for private studios and conservatories.

Sue was commissioned to choreograph numerous theatrical productions including “Grease”, “Godspell”, and “Forum”, to name a few. She served as Director and Choreographer of the Miss California Pageant (Miss America Pageant Organization) for nine years. In the commercial industry, Sue has worked with Pepsi, SaveMart Supermarkets, Carmel Kids and other local clients.  She produced and choreographed shows for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, All About Care (an Aids Benefit), Live Light Productions and Wild Water Adventures.

Sue has been a guest teacher for several organizations including The Debbie Reynolds Dance Center, United Spirit Association, University of Santa Barbara, Houston Met 2, New Century Dance Project and various private dance studios, universities, and workshops throughout the United States and Costa Rica. She has served as an Adjudicator with several dance competitions/conventions including West Coast Dance Explosion, Break the Floor Productions, Hall of Fame, the United Spirit Association and The Knock-Out Dance Challenge in Canada.

In 2015, Sue’s dancers received notable success in the dance world. Her Elite Dance Company was awarded “Studio of The Year” at The Dance Awards National Finals and was also named “Top Ensemble” and “Top School” at the Youth American Grand Prix in Los Angeles. And more recently, Sue’s dancers were awarded “Top Senior Performance” at The Dance Awards 2019 National Finals in Orlando, Florida.

Students mentored and trained by Sue have been invited to prestigious dance programs such a Julliard, USC Glorya Kaufman, Suny/Purchase, Marymount Manhattan, NYU, University of Arizona, Chapman, UCLA and many more. Several of her former students have worked professional in companies, Broadway and television; and several alumni have founded their own dance companies and dance studios.
