Preschool Dance, Creative Movement
KRISTEN BRISTER began dancing at the age of 3 in her hometown of Memphis, TN. She trained under Nadine Smith and Jackie Chartrand at NVS Dance (one of Tennessee’s top 3 competitive dance schools.) After 10 years of competing, she focused her efforts on ballet, joining the Oakland Youth Ballet as an apprentice, under the direction of Nora Curran. It was there that she found her calling as a teacher, and started teaching pre-ballet and creative movement. In 2007, she was offered a role as Director of Children’s Dance and Director of Enrollment at House of Talent. During her tenure, studio enrollment grew by 75% and the children’s program gained city-wide recognition.
In 2010, Kristen moved to Tuscaloosa, AL to attend the University of Alabama as a dance major. She also began working at the Academy of Ballet and Jazz as Director of Marketing and Communications. She is widely regarded for her social media and web marketing strategy at the studio, helping them grow their presence exponentially. Kristen also served as Director of Children’s Dance in her final years at ABJ.
Most recently, Kristen, along with her business partners Gregg and Tessa Russell, opened 3D Dance in Tuscaloosa, AL. The studio strives to create an environment of inclusivity amongst their dance family. Their core values of ‘Dedication, Discipline and Diversity’ are the basis of the studio’s foundation, building a long-lasting legacy for the dance community of West Alabama. Long having admired Francisco Gella and his programs, she is honored to be a part of the team.
