With Julie Friedrich

Associate Director for College and Career Preparation, Francisco Gella Dance Works

As we have seen the rise in the dedication to and interest in higher education and dance careers from diverse talent across the country, this new college preparatory workshop is designed specifically for students who want to move on to that vital next step in their path towards becoming professional dancers. The program will be tailored to meet the individual needs of each student, so whether the student is considering a full time collegiate-level arts conservatory or pursuing a minor in dance along with their academic major at a university, each student will have the resources to meet their needs. This course will give our most talented dance students the guidance and one-on-one help necessary to succeed in gaining entry to a top level dance/arts program or rounding out their college education with an arts minor. This seminar unites the artistic development with the intellectual evolution of the dance student. The workshop surmises the culmination of the high school dance experience and positions the student for the greatest possible success in higher education, conservatory or pre‐professional opportunities of the highest caliber.

About Julie Friedrich

Julie Friedrich created and led the college seminar program for over ten years at two premiere arts high schools in California; the Orange County High School for the Arts, and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. The overwhelming success of the program led Francisco Gella Dance Works to add the program to their roster of offerings in 2017. Under the mentorship and guidance of Julie Friedrich her students have gone on to study at such schools as; USC Kaufman, Juilliard, Boston Conservatory,  NYU Tisch, Laban School, and University of Michigan. In 2013 President Obama and the White House named Julie one of the most influential arts teachers in the country for her mentorship of young dancers, and her work with numerous winners of the Young Arts Competition.
